Acrylic rendering

Acrylic render is a polymer-modified coat. It is used where a wall needs a little give, or where you want colour in the finish rather than a later paint cycle. Around Kensington that often means a house that already has a painted render, a later addition against an older brick wall, or a surface that has moved at corners and openings. It is still a wall finish, not a structural repair.

On a visit we look at what is already there: paint that is chalking, render that sounds hollow, control joints, window and door reveals, and whether moisture is sitting in the base of the wall. A flexible coat over a wet or drummy surface does not stay. If the old material has to come off first, that is the job — not a thin new skin over a failed one.

Preparation is most of the time. Washing, repairing cracks, priming where the system needs it, then the coat itself. Colour is chosen against the house and the light on that street, not from a swatch on a phone. We do not lock a colour from this website.

What sits outside a typical acrylic coat unless we write it in after the visit: replacing rotten timber, new flashings, roof work, and treating rising damp as if a coating were a damp course. Those are separate questions. The quote depends on the area, the height, how much preparation the wall needs, and access down the side of the house.
